Anxiety
Anxiety can take many different forms, however is typically experienced as worry or tension, and is often accompanied by racing thoughts. Anxiety is a normal part of being human, and in fact it is what has helped us survive and evolve (after all, the cave men and women who were worried about the sabretooth tiger were the ones who survived!). Anxiety can absolutely be helpful, but when it’s voice starts to get too loud and prevent us from doing things, that’s when it can become a problem. There are many ways to manage anxiety and get on with life such as thought reframing, acceptance, mindfulness, and relaxation. At Adaptive Counselling and Psychology, we can support to get on top of anxiety, and understand and challenge the underlying reasons for it being in control.
